The Reason Meghan Markle Wore Princess Diana's Bracelet During Her Oprah Winfrey Interview
"My biggest concern was history repeating itself," Prince Harry tells Oprah Winfrey in the teaser for his and Meghan Markle's tell-all interview.
It's not a stretch to assume that the "history" to which the Duke of Sussex refers involves his late mother, Princess Diana, and the media firestorm that plagued the latter half of her life.
The British tabloids certainly didn't make Markle's transition into the royal family easy — and still, they've found ludicrous ways to criticize the Duchess of Sussex at each and every turn. So Markle's decision to wear a tennis bracelet previously owned by Princess Diana during her and Harry's interview could be construed as a not-so-subtle nod to the expectant mother's experience as a royal. According to People, this is the same bracelet that two stones were removed from to create Markle's three-stone diamond engagement ring.
The diamond bracelet was one among a trio of sparkling bangles, which reportedly included a Cartier Love bracelet. Markle sat before the celebrated talk show host in a black silk belted Armani mididress, accessorizing further with a gold Pippa Small necklace bearing a set aquamarine pendants.
The highly anticipated interview will air on CBS Sunday, March 7.
