Laura Dern Wore a Black Turtleneck and a Full Feather Skirt to the Oscars
Her gown is Elizabeth Holmes meets Black Swan.
Laura Dern, who took home an Oscar last year for her performance in Marriage Story, arrived at the 2021 Academy Awards in a look that is best-described as a sartorial mullet — you know, business in the front, party in the back, or, for our purposes, black turtleneck on the top, white ostrich feathers on the bottom.
It's Elizabeth Holmes meets Black Swan and we are living for every inch.
Dern paired her Oscar de la Renta mixed media gown with shoulder-grazing dangling earrings and the loose curls that have become her signature 'do. She polished the outfit off with a set of black T-strap heels adorned with a jewel-encrusted cord stretching across the foot.
The look is something of a departure from last year's gown, a custom pink silk Armani number with a beaded and tasseled upper section. Dern walked the carpet with her mother, actress Diane Ladd, and her children Ellery, 19, and Jaya Harper, 16.
