Gaga showed up at the MTV Video Music Awards's socially distanced, mostly virtual event and brought the health directive to wear protective face masks to a brand new level, wearing not just one, but six elaborate masks with five different outfits. First, there was her "red carpet" look, a tribute to sexy astronauts everywhere. Then, there was the pink mask/helmet she wore to accept the award she shares with Ariana Grande for Best Collaboration for their song, "Rain on Me." And the one she donned to pick up another award for the song, for Song of the Year. Then there was the mask she wore for her performance of the song with Grande. And the appropriately show-stopping ensemble she wore to accept the award for Artist of the Year. And finally, a mask that brought a new meaning to the word "bedazzled." If there's a red carpet — or really, an event of any kind, Gaga will be there to shut it down.
