Kiran Chetry's Baby Shower
Guests of Honor
"I didn't even know you got a shower for your second baby!" said American Morning anchor Kiran Chetry, surveying the scene at a baby bash thrown in honor of her impending arrival. Chetry's CNN coworkers joined her for party at New York City's Sparty, where they enjoyed an eco-friendly afternoon of manicures, massages and plenty of baby talk.
"I've been a fan of Kiran's for a long time," said shower host Jennifer Klein, wife of CNN/US president Jonathan Klein. "Of course, CNN is on 24 hours a day in our house!"
Guests like Veronica De La Cruz were invited to make the most of the occasion, indulging in manicures, pedicures and chair massages. In keeping with eco-friendly theme of the shower, manicurists used vegan polishes from SpaRitual. "There are so many options to live the eco-cool lifestyle," said host Klein. "You can find everything from food, to clothing and even spa products."
"Kiran is the thinnest pregnant woman I have ever seen," marveled Campbell Brown, who brought along her 3 month-old son, Eli. "For the longest time she barely even looked pregnant!" Would Brown take advantage of the spa services? "With a baby? Forget it! My manicure days are over," she declared.
In between return trips to the manicure table, Chetry's daughter Maya helped her mom stay looking fresh. "The viewers were the ones who caught on first," Chetry-who is expecting a boy-said of her baby bump. "They've been so supportive."
Chetry posed with Veronica De La Cruz, Campbell Brown, Alina Cho, Lola Ogunnaike, Jennifer Klein, Erica Hill and Sunny Hostin. "We're like TV sisters," said Cho, who found her shower gift for Chetry at one of the web sites specializing in eco-friendly baby goods listed on the event invitation.
One Lucky Duck provided a take-home gift tote containing organic treats like chocolate macaroons and chewy almond crunch bars from their online food shop. Chetry received a special Baby Mama bag, complete with a bamboo baby onesie and Skinny Skinny soaps.
