Kim Kardashian Finally Responded to the Backlash Over Her Controversial Comments on Women in Business

Kim Kardashian has finally spoken out after her comments on women in business went viral for all the wrong reasons.

The controversial soundbite in question occurred during an interview with Variety, where Kim (now infamously) stated, "I have the best advice for women in business: Get your f—ing ass up and work." Kim had yet to comment on the flood of backlash she received from the remarks until appearing on a segment of Good Morning America on March 28. It was there the star sat down with GMA co-host Robin Roberts to explain the clip and set the record straight.

"Well, that statement that I said was without questions and conversation around it, and it became a sound bite really with no context," Kim shared with Roberts. "And that sound bite, I came off the notion and the question right before, which was after 20 years of being in the business you're famous for being famous."

Kim went on to explain the implication that her success was easily achieved is what caused her aggressive shift in demeanor.

"My whole tone and attitude changed with the previous question that went into that question about what advice would you give to women," Kardashian said. "And the advice that I would give is just that, having a social media presence and being on a reality show does not mean overnight success. And you have to really work hard to get there even if it might seem like it's easy, and that you can build a really successful business off of social media. And you can if you put in a lot of hard work."

The reality star and CEO finished her thought by apologizing to anyone her comments may have offended. "It wasn't a blanket statement towards women or to feel like I don't respect the work or think that they don't work hard," Kim said. "I know that they do. It was taken out of context, but I'm really sorry if it was received that way."
