Kate Middleton Is "Relishing" In Her Role as Future Queen
Despite earlier reports that Kate Middleton was "overwhelmed" in the wake Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's exit from the royal family, new information is telling a very different story. In an exclusive report from People, a royal source claims that the Duchess of Cambridge is actually "relishing" in her role as future Queen of England.
Regarding an article in Tatler that claimed she was having a difficult time with her new responsibilities, a source told the outlet that the Duchess would “certainly would resent someone saying that she is struggling." They continued, “I can understand why she would feel that is a total misrepresentation of the truth because it really isn’t the case. If anything, she is relishing the role more than ever. And she will do it all to the best of her ability.”
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Middleton has been doing dozens of appearances via Zoom. Just last week, she returned to in-person events visiting Fakenham Garden Centre in Norfolk. While the source says she isn't overwhelmed, royal etiquette expert Myka Meier explained that the pressure is huge. “The future Queen is a role model to the U.K. but also to the world, which means all eyes are on you,” Meier said. “The added pressure of having cameras everywhere to catch even the slightest eye movement makes everything she does a conscious effort. From the perfectly poised posture to the way she descends a staircase or gets out of a car—it is all carefully done.”
Of course, we know that everything the Duchess wears in public is a point of conversation and that, too, is another source of pressure. "I think the pressure is more about her public image, making sure she is wearing the right brands, showing the kids in less expensive clothing, especially right now,” another insider explained. “Small details, but they matter.”
Although Prince Charles is next in line for the throne, most of the attention seems to be focused on what it will be like Prince William and Kate Middleton take the spot.
