A Complete Timeline of Kaia Gerber and Jacob Elordi's Relationship

The saying goes "all good things must come to an end" — and that's proving to be quite evident as yet another one of our favorite Hollywood couples go their separate ways: Kaia Gerber and Jacob Elordi.

The It couple was beloved for a few reasons, one being glaringly obvious: their insane beauty. But their young love at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic also gave us much-needed hope that easier, more carefree times were ahead. Not to mention their innocent, thrilling relationship kept us warm and fuzzy on the inside while we rotted away in our own lonely, self-isolated quarantines.

Each masked public appearance had us excited and believing in love and happiness again. The pair continued to go strong for a good portion of the year, finally making a glorious red carpet debut in Sept. 2021. But not long after they stepped into that hallowed, heavily photographed space, the two would call it quits just in time for cuffing season.

So, in honor of the beautiful love that was once shared during a time when we needed it the most, we're taking a look back at the year-long relationship between Kaia Gerber and heartthrob Jacob Elordi.

September 2020

The ridiculously good-looking couple was first spotted out together on Sept. 1, 2020 in Malibu, California, at none other than Nobu, the celebrity-beloved hotspot sushi joint. At the time, sources told the media that the two were solely friends.

But it wasn't along until these dates got more frequent; the two were even photographed hand-in-hand while out and about in New York City. During the same month, the duo was spotted leaving the gym together, as well as holding hands in their quarantine best: sweats.

Later that month, the two even joined Kaia's parents, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, for a getaway to Mexico.

October 2020

A month later, the two are still going strong. A source told E! News that Kaia and Elordi are "inseparable" — hitting up the gym during the day and stepping out for dinner dates at night.

"They look very happy together, always smiling and pulling each other in close," the source said. "They seem very into each other and are having a good time. He is never not by her side and holding her close."

During an errand run in Los Angeles, the couple sealed their relationship with a kiss caught on camera. An eyewitness told the publication that "Jacob walked with his arm around Kaia and was sweet. When the dog stopped to sniff the grass, Jacob leaned in and gave Kaia a kiss."

Another source added that Kaia's parents seemed to approve of Jacob and their relationship. Following their tropical trip, the young couple continued to dine with her famous parents, who appeared to appreciate his company, according to a source.

"They have been having dinner together and always end up laughing," the source told E!. "The four of them hang out, but they also spend time as couples alone."

On Halloween, Kaia and Jacob dressed up as the beloved '70s rock-and-roll couple Elvis and Priscilla Presley. Photographer Blair Brown shared a snapshot of the two in costume, which marked the couple's Instagram debut and official confirmation of the relationship.

December 2020

By the end of 2020, the couple even started to dress alike. In a photo obtained by Harper's Bazaar, the two stepped out in L.A. in very coordinated workout outfits. Both Kaia and Jacob wore an oversized sweater over gray leggings (he layered his with basketball shorts) tucked into calf-length tube socks.

April 2021

In the spring, a source shared with Us Weekly that while the couple was still going strong and that the two weren't "rushing into anything serious."

"They're lovers and also best friends," the source continued. "They're always together when they don't have work commitments."

May 2021

In an interview with Vogue, Kaia opened up about her relationship for the first time publicly. She told the publication that Jacob was "someone I trust."

"Having a safe, steady relationship like that, has really opened my eyes to the possibilities of love and what it feels like to love without conditions."

June 2021

In honor of Jacob's 24th birthday, Kaia shared a sexy shirtless photo of her boyfriend. She also simultaneously dropped the "L" word in the same steamy Instagram post.

"Happy birthday my love," she wrote, alongside the snapshot that showed Jacob lounging with his hand behind his head, rocking disheveled hair and a mustache.

September 2021

The moment we had all been waiting for: the year's hottest couple finally made their red carpet debut. At the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Opening Gala in Los Angeles, Kaia and Jacob made things officially official with super glamorous couple carpet moment.

For the event, the model (and I do mean Kaia) wore a sparkling Champagne-colored Celine gown. Her boyfriend coordinated with her, looking dapper as ever in a Celine tuxedo. The couple glowed in the bright lights and flashing cameras.

November 2021

After a year of Halloween costumes, birthday tributes, gym dates, and masked strolls, the couple has reportedly called it quits. On. Nov. 18, Page Six reported that although the two had gone their separate ways, the split was "amicable."

While the exes still follow each other on Instagram, fans started speculating about a breakup when Gerber removed photos with Jacob from her page. All signs point to a breakup, but we can't help but hope for a future reconciliation between these two.
