George Clooney has made it no secret he’s not a fan of the Trump Administration (echoing his long-politically active wife, Amal). And on Friday, the same day Amal blasted president Donald Trump in Philadelphia for mocking Christine Blasey Ford's testimony during Judge Brett Kavanaugh's Senate confirmation hearing, the Oscar winner was on the opposite coast, criticizing the whole administration for stoking fear in Americans.

After introducing himself as “Amal Clooney’s husband” at Variety’s Power of Women event in Beverly Hills — which was a great move, to begin the speech by nodding to the power woman in his household — the Money Monster star slammed Trump’s "Make America Great Again" mantra, saying, “We're living in a time where fear is our stock and trade. Fear of Muslims, fear of immigrants, fear of minorities, fear of strong women — and because our government needs us to be afraid. The question is are we really going to be scared of all the things that actually make America great?”

Clooney, who was on hand to present Variety’s Power of Women award to Never Again MSD co-founder and Parkland shooting survivor Emma Gonzalez, continued, “And, if the answer is yes, then we're going to have history to answer to, because these are the ideas that are going to define us for generations. There is cause when there's effect. When you call an entire religion your enemy you might very well make an enemy out of an entire religion.”

And he emphasized the importance of the upcoming midterm elections. “When you tell an entire race of people that you value them less, you can't be surprised when they question your values. And when you tell women that are coming forward to testify, that their abuse is a joke, then don't be shocked when they're standing on your lawn laughing on November 7th.”

As the audience applauded and cheered, Clooney continued on, adding, “Enough with all the jokes, and the insults, and the reality-show frenzy. What will be remembered? What will stand the test of time is holding responsible the wolves in wolves' clothing.”
