Gabrielle Union Revealed an Upsetting Secret About the Bring It On Trailer
Brrr it's cold in here, there must be some early 2000s Universal Pictures tomfoolery in the atmosphere … Catchy, no?
Gabrielle Union, our Bring It On tea-spilling queen, revealed yet another shocking behind-the-scenes detail about her time working on the classic cheerleading film.
In a TikTok, the actress shared a section of the movie's trailer that focused on her character Isis and her cheer squad, the East Compton Clovers.
"We shot these snippets that you see here after the movie wrapped," Union narrated. "Because once test audiences saw the movie, they wanted more of the Clovers."
"So, we shot these only for the trailer, not for the movie," she went on, "to make people think we were in the movie more than we were."
Which of course begs the question, why didn't they just shoot real scenes with the Clovers to actually add to the movie? Clovers Cut, please.
This isn't the first time Union has opened up about working on the film. Just last September, she told Good Morning America that she had regrets when it came to her portrayal of the now-iconic Isis.
"I was given full range to do whatever I wanted with Isis in Bring It On, and I chose respectability and to be classy and take the high road because I felt like that would make her be appropriate the right kind of Black girl," she explained. "Black girls aren't allowed to be angry. Certainly not demonstratively angry and I muzzled her."
"I realized that I need to come to grips and acknowledge where I failed Isis," she went on. "When given full control, I made her 'appropriate.'"
