Ellen DeGeneres to Address Toxic Workplace Rumors When Her Show Returns

Over the past few months, Ellen DeGeneres has gone from championing her "be kind" ethos to becoming the center of a controversy that claims that she's fostered a toxic work environment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. According to Entertainment Weekly, the show is scheduled to return with new episodes on September 21 and, DeGeneres assures viewers and critics, she will address the rumors.

"I can't wait to get back to work and back to our studio," DeGeneres said. "And, yes, we’re gonna talk about it."

The first week is set to have Tiffany Haddish as well as Kerry Washington, Alec Baldwin, and Chrissy Teigen as guests. EW adds that guests set to grace the stage during the show's first month back include the Rock, Amy Schumer, Adam Sandler, and Orlando Bloom. There will not be an in-studio audience when they film the new episodes.

Executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman have all left the show since news of workplace complaints have rolled in. EW notes that all of them have denied any wrongdoing. Back on August 17, DeGeneres addressed her staff during a Zoom call, where she said that everyone, including herself, has days when they're introverted and not overly friendly. That, she insists, could have been misinterpreted as her being mean.

"Does that mean I'm perfect? No. I'm not," she said on the call. "I'm a multi-layered person, and I try to be the best person I can be and I try to learn from my mistake."
