All the Celebrity Babies We Welcomed in 2020 (So Far)
While headlines have been dominated by a certain pandemic, a very unusual election, and plenty more, some things have been business as usual: celebrities are still welcoming babies, growing their families, and posting the most adorable Instagram posts to commemorate it.
Yes, some new parents are choosing to showcase glimpses of their babies' feet and fingers instead of a full-on portrait and others haven't even officially announced the news.
Here's a running list of the celebrities who've welcomed a baby this year, from Mindy Kaling to Nicki Minaj and Ashley Graham.
During an October 8 appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Mindy Kaling surprised fans with news that she'd given birth to her second child.
"I'm telling it for the first time now, it feels so strange. But I gave birth to a baby boy on September 3," she said.
Colbert said what we were all thinking: "No one even knew you were pregnant!"
"I know! I know! This is news to a lot of people. It's true," she said. Kaling revealed the baby is a boy named Spencer. Kaling has an older daughter, Katherine.
Amanda Seyfried and her husband, Thomas Sadoski, welcomed their second child, a son. They announced the news on the INARA and War Child USA Instagram accounts, two charities that work to help children in war-ravaged countries.
"Since the birth of our daughter three years ago, our commitment to the innocent children that are so brutally affected by conflict and war has been a driving force in our lives," statements to INARA and War Child USA said. "With the birth of our son, the work of INARA and War Child has become our North Star."
The two also share a daughter named Nina.
Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
The two still haven't confirmed the news, but sources reported that Jessica Biel gave birth to a baby boy in mid-July after keeping her pregnancy "top secret."
According to the Daily Mail, Biel and Timberlake had been spending the coronavirus pandemic quarantining in Montana, far away from the paparazzi in L.A. Biel and Timberlake have been married since 2012 and have a son, Silas.
Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik
Gigi Hadid shared the news of her new arrival on Instagram writing, "Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love."
Malik confirmed the news on Twitter, sharing a photo of him holding his daughter’s hand.
"Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful to try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love i feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together x," he wrote.
Katherine Schwarzenegger and Chris Pratt
Entertainment Tonight reported that Schwarzenegger and Pratt welcomed their first child together. Though the couple didn't release an official statement, Schwarzenegger's brother, Patrick, confirmed the news in a video. Pratt shares a son, Jack, with his ex-wife, Anna Faris.
Billie Lourd welcomed her first child with fiancé Austen Rydell back in September, announcing the news on Instagram.
"Introducing: Kingston Fisher Lourd Rydell," she wrote.
Jude Law and Phillipa Coan
In an interview with Jimmy Fallon on Monday, Sept. 14, Law announced that he and Phillipa Coan had welcomed a baby. "Oh! And on top of that I had a baby," he shared. This is Coan's first child and Law's sixth.
Domino Kirke and Penn Badgley
Domino Kirke announced that she and her husband, Penn Badgley, welcomed a baby boy together. In an Instagram post, Kirke shared a photo of her placenta.
"His heart shaped home," she wrote.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner welcomed their baby girl, Willa, on July 22.
"Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are delighted to announce the birth of their baby," a rep for Jonas told People.
"The couple is already obsessed and can't stop gloating about their new addition," a source told Entertainment Tonight. "The couple is taking time to enjoy this special moment and have only shared the news and updates with family and friends."
Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith
People confirmed that Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith welcomed a daughter in April 2020.
"Both mother and baby are happy and healthy," their reps said in a statement.
Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee
Back on March 6, Dewan announced that she and Steve Kazee welcomed a child together.
"And just like that, our hearts exploded into all of eternity and beyond. Welcome to the world you little angel! Callum Michael Rebel Kazee 3/6/20,” she posted on Instagram.
Leighton Meester and Adam Brody
During Hold the Phone TV's The Fun Time Boys Game Night Spectacular Twitch stream, Adam Brody revealed that he and his wife, Leighton Meester, are parents to a baby boy.
"I have a new kid. Since last I played, I have a new kid," Brody reportedly said. "I have a boy, and he’s a dream. He’s a dream boy."
Brody and Meester also share a five-year-old daughter, Arlo Day.
People reported that Kristen Wiig and her fiancé, Avi Rothman, welcomed twins via a surrogate this year. The couple has not commented on the news.
Ciara and Russell Wilson
Michelle Williams and Thomas Kail
Michelle Williams and Thomas Kail welcomed their first child together, according to Us Weekly. The two reportedly married back in March after announcing their engagement in December.
Williams has one daughter, Matilda, from a previous relationship with the late Heath Ledger.
The singer announced his baby news on Instagram, letting his followers know that he and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, welcomed a daughter, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.
"Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you ... Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran," he wrote on Instagram. "We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x."
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, this year.
The couple, who are both Unicef Goodwill Ambassadors, shared the news via Unicef's Instagram feed.
"We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter," they wrote.
In June, rapper Iggy Azalea mentioned that she has a son, though she initially kept details (like his name and when he was born) scarce.
"I have a son," she wrote on her Instagram Story, according to E! News. "I kept waiting for the right time to say something, but it feels like the more time passes, the more I realize I'm always going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world."
People added that Azalea later posted an Instagram video with a caption revealing his name: Onyx.
Back on Mother’s Day, America Ferrera introduced the world to her second child with Ryan Piers Williams, a baby girl named Lucia Marisol. The couple already has a son, Sebastian.
"LUCIA MARISOL WILLIAMS arrived on May 4th to give me my Mother’s Day hugs and kisses herself. Mama, Dada & Big Brother are over the moon to welcome her bright light to our family," Ferrera wrote.
U.S. Women's National Team forward Alex Morgan welcomed her first child with fellow soccer pro Servando Carrasco.
Morgan introduced her daughter, Charlie Elena Carrasco, on Twitter.
"At 1130am on May 7 weighing 8lbs5oz, Charlie Elena Carrasco made her grand entrance into the world," Morgan wrote alongside a sweet photo. "She made us wait longer than expected, but I should have known she would do it her way and her way only. My super moon baby."
Elon Musk and Grimes
In early May, Tesla founder Elon Musk and singer Grimes welcomed their first child together, a son: X Æ A-12 Musk.
Grimes explained the meaning of her son's name in a separate tweet: "•X, the unknown variable •Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence) •A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent + (A=Archangel, my favorite song) (metal rat)."
Ashley Graham and Justin Ervin
Model Ashley Graham and her husband, filmmaker Justin Ervin, welcomed their first son together on January 18. Graham announced the news in an Instagram Story.
"At 6:00 p.m. on Saturday our lives changed for the better," she said. "Thank you all for your love and support during this incredible time. 1.18.2020."
On an episode of her podcast, Pretty Big Deal, Graham announced her son's name: Isaac Menelik Giovanni Ervin. She also added that she gave birth at home, not in a hospital.
Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova
Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova welcomed their third child together back in January.
According to the former tennis pro's Instagram feed, the new baby is a girl. Her caption reads, "My Sunshine 01.30.2020."
