Two of our favorite romantic comedy characters came together IRL at the 20th annual Hollywood Film Awards inside the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday. Former How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days co-stars Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, who hilariously portrayed Andie and Ben in the 2003 flick, came together on the red carpet along with the actor’s stunning wife, Camila Alves. So what was the cause of their reunion? Hudson presented him with the Hollywood Ensemble Award, on behalf of the cast of Gold, as she smoldered in her glitzy, plunging Marchesa dress. Naturally, they weren’t the only stars to turn heads. Nicole Kidman, Naomie Harris, and Natalie Portman were just a few of the A-listers picking up accolades at the awards show. A statuesque Kidman turned heads in an off-white, floral Giambattista Valli floral gown to pick up the Hollywood Supporting Actress Award for her role in Lion, while soon to be mom-of-two Portman was glowing as she showed off her baby bump in a sleek, black Dior dress paired with black pumps. “You wear what fits,” the Jackie star, who received the Hollywood Actress Award, told InStyle with a smile about her maternity look. She added, “It’s a huge honor to get to be part of this this season. There are so many great movies and great artists that I admire a lot ... to get to be in the room with them is very flattering.” Lily Collins, who received the New Hollywood Award, echoed those sentiments, telling us it felt “surreal” to be honored at the star-studded event. “To be included in a group of people like this is amazing and a huge honor, and it’s my first acting award, so I’m just excited,” Collins said, as she flashed a bit of her toned midsection in a cutout David Koma dress that she told us she was “obsessed” with. Meanwhile, the ever-fashionable Harris, who was honored with the Hollywood Breakout Actress Award for her starring role in Moonlight, hit the carpet in a metallic Gucci suit, telling us receiving the award for the gripping drama felt “particularly special.” She added, “It was a passion project that we made on a shoestring budget, and nobody expected it to have this kind of reception, but it’s a film that’s really worth that kind of reception because it’s got such a beautiful message.” Hosted by James Corden, the event served as a preview of the films, filmmakers, and actors that land nominations in the season’s upcoming awards shows, though the 2016 election was a talking point among those who took the stage. Leonardo DiCaprio accepted the Hollywood Documentary Award for his film Before the Flood and encouraged everyone to head to the polls Tuesday to vote for candidates who support action on climate change. “Climate change is real. It’s happening faster than ever, and if you don’t believe in the science of man-made climate change, you might as well not believe in gravity,” he told the crowd. “All of us need to act, all of us in this room ... Let’s all use our power as citizens and do the right thing.” Aside from the political aspects of the evening though, there were several light-hearted and heartwarming moments of note as well. Harris’s Moonlight costar Janelle Monae teared up as she received the Spotlight Award, and Vince Vaughn made the audience giggle as he poked fun at the food at the event. Justin Timberlake also brought on the laughs as he accepted the Hollywood Song Award from his Trolls co-star Anna Kendrick, saying the HFA “could stand for Hella F**kin’ Awesome,” because his award was “pretty awesome.” RELATED: How to Get Kate Hudson's Signature Loose Waves Scroll down to see more of the stars at the glitzy affair.
