Britney Spears Got a Shag Haircut

Perennial blonde and former extension devotee Britney Spears showed off a new shag haircut on Instagram today — and she loved the look so much that she posted three nearly identical snapshots of it.

"Cut my hair !!!! You know what they say .... out with the old .... in with the new !!!!!" Spears captioned her first post. "Now let us pray !!!!"

Two additional photos, which displayed the new chop in bright sunlight, also earned emoji-filled captions and gave her fans a close-up look at Spears's new length. She paired the new hair with a floral top, her signature dark eyeliner, and neutral lip color.

Commenters loved the makeover, writing, "Love it!!! You look gorgeous," and, "Ok, I'm obsessed with this haircut. You look absolutely beautiful."

Back in 1999 and 2014, Spears had a cropped style, though her signature look has always been long, whether it was with the help with a few, ahem, enhancements or she'd grown her hair out.

Spears posts today came on the same day that her father, Jamie, told CNN that he hadn't spoken to her since August, when Britney's attorney filed to have him removed as her conservator.

"I love my daughter and I miss her very much," Jamie told CNN. "When a family member needs special care and protection, families need to step up, as I have done for the last 12-plus years, to safeguard, protect and continue to love Britney unconditionally."

"I have and will continue to provide unwavering love and fierce protection against those with self-serving interests and those who seek to harm her or my family," he finished.
