He even acted with his daughter, playing real-life dad to Blake's character Bridget Vreeland in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Ernie's cause of death was reported as "cardiac complications." He suffered a heart attack back in 2003 and received experimental stem-cell therapy as part of his recovery.
