Beyoncé Reveals She's Ready for a Break

Beyoncé is one of the busiest women in the industry. In addition to being a singer, director, and fashion designer, she's also a mother to three children and a wife to Jay-Z. Her schedule is never-ending, but with the global pandemic, she finally took a moment to breathe.

In a new interview with British Vogue, Bey opened up about having more quality time to spend with her family during quarantine, and how the extra days at home made her realize she's officially ready for a break. "I truly cherish this time with my family, and my new goal is to slow down and shed stressful things from my life,” she told the publication. “I came into the music industry at 15 years old and grew up with the world watching, and I have put out projects nonstop.”

“I released Lemonade during the Formation World Tour, gave birth to twins, performed at Coachella, directed Homecoming, went on another world tour with Jay, then Black Is King, all back-to-back,” the singer continued. “It’s been heavy and hectic. I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on building my legacy and representing my culture the best way I know how."

She added, "Now, I’ve decided to give myself permission to focus on my joy.”

Recently, Beyoncé has focused on advocating for racial justice and giving a voice to minorities — which she says she was inspired to do after becoming a mom. "Something cracked open inside of me right after giving birth to my first daughter," she explained. "From that point on, I truly understood my power. It became my mission to make sure she lived in a world where she feels truly seen and valued."

Earlier this month, Bey called to end the police unit known as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Nigeria. The army has been accused of kidnapping, extortion, harassment, and even the unprovoked killing of a man. “I am heartbroken to see the senseless brutality taking place in Nigeria," the singer wrote on Instagram.

“We have been working on partnerships with youth organizations to support those protesting for change. We are collaborating with coalitions to provide emergency healthcare, food and shelter. To our Nigerian sisters and brothers, we stand with you.”
