Angela Bassett Made a Case for Barely-There Denim Cut-Offs

An artfully tattered take on the summer staple.

Denim cut-off shorts are essentially a summer staple, but somehow, Angela Bassett managed to breathe new life into the classic trend on a recent outing.

Bassett was photographed wearing a pair of white denim cut-offs, artfully tattered so as to be almost see-through across the front. She wore a mustard yellow T-shirt from Legendary Rootz reading "Black Women Glow Different" and accessorized with a matching yellow shoulder bag and a black protective face mask.

Bassett may have made history recently when she reportedly negotiated a salary "north of $450,000 an episode" for her role on 9-1-1 according to Deadline, which would make her the highest-paid actress of color in a broadcast drama series on television. Bassett is also involved in the development of the Fox show and serves as an executive producer on 9-1-1 as well as its spinoff, 9-1-1: Lone Star.

The actress, who starred in Black Panther as the titular hero's mother, also gave an update a few weeks ago about how the films will proceed following the death of star Chadwick Boseman.

"Of course, with our dear king going on to glory, a lot of things had to be shifted and changed, so thankfully, [director] Ryan [Coogler] and [writer] Joe Robert Cole, they're just such masterful storytellers that they've found a way into this world and hopefully it will be satisfying, I think, for the fans and it will be honorable of our Chad," she told Entertainment Tonight. "We love our king."
