Adele Channeled '90s Meryl Streep During Her SNL Hosting Debut
She looked just like Streep's character Madeline Ashton from the film 'Death Becomes Her.'
Adele hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time this weekend, and she made sure to dress to impress for her big debut.
Putting a new spin on the classic pantsuit, the singer stepped out wearing a black blazer in an off-the-shoulder silhouette, which she paired with tailored pants in a matching shade. Both pieces were by Brock Collection, and she accessorized the chic separates with a pair of dramatic drop earrings and a single gold bangle.
Her entire look instantly drew comparisons to a young Meryl Streep from the film Death Becomes Her. In the '90s cult classic, Streep plays Madeline Ashton, a narcissistic actress who drinks a magic potion that promises eternal youth, and throughout the movie, she serves up some major fashion moments — including one that looks eerily similar to Adele's opening monologue outfit.
In addition to the outfit, Adele's signature cat-eye, glossy red lip, and her blonde hair styled into loose waves that fell to one side, also appeared very reminiscent of Streep's character. Take a look for yourself:
During her appearance, Adele addressed her recent weight loss ("I had to travel light and I could only bring half of me"), gave an update about her upcoming album (it's not finished yet), and jokingly thanked Sarah Palin for her musical success in the United States.
