Photo: Cay Skin A daily sunscreen that'll leave your skin luminous and cast-free is not an easy find — but Winnie Harlow is changing that. The model launched her island-inspired suncare collection Cay Skin earlier this month. Featuring two SPF moisturizers, the Isle Face Glow Lotion and Universal Mineral Face Lotion, the sunscreens are vegan, silicone- and cruelty-free, and reef-safe. They're formulated specially to blend smoothly on all skin types and tones and have neutral-colored tints, so they won't leave a white or purple cast. After initially launching on the brand's website, Cay Skin is officially available to shop at Sephora. Part of Harlow's reason for entering the sunscreen world is due to a bad experience during a photoshoot in 2018, where the model was discouraged to wear sunscreen in case it would leave a cast on her skin. Due to major sun exposure, she experienced a severe sunburn that required medical attention and negatively impacted her vitiligo. As promised, it doesn't leave a white cast on my fair skin — instead, it leaves behind a subtle, shimmery blur that almost looks like you put on makeup but doesn't feel like it at all. The chemical sunscreen contains a blend of avobenzone, octisalate, and octocrylene, and is formulated with sea moss to hydrate and protect against environmental elements, niacinamide to tone and smooth, and the brand's special plant-based nectar that "replenishes moisture levels." It also has a pretty high SPF of 45, compared to a lot of other sunscreen moisturizers that contain 15 to 30, at most. The Isle Face Glow Lotion blends in quickly, too, and feels more like skincare than a sunscreen product. My face tends to get oily and a bit irritated by midday, but thanks to the product's pearlescent sheen and niacinamide-packed formula, my skin looks calm, bright, and way less shiny than usual by 4 p.m. Since it's so lightweight, I'll definitely be swapping my usual tinted sunscreens for the Isle Face Glow this summer.
