Vegamour is getting to the root of gray hairs (literally). The popular plant-based haircare brand just launched its latest collection of products, Gro Ageless, which is designed to tackle both new gray hair growth and existing gray strands.

If you're not familiar with the brand, Vegamour is known for its hair-thickening serums and shampoos formulated with phyto-actives (AKA ingredients derived from plants) like mung bean, curcumin, and red clover. Nicole Kidman recently hopped on-board as a brand investor and advocate, touting the Gro Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner as some of her favorite products.

Currently, Vegamour's Gro Ageless collection consists of two products — the Anti-Gray Hair Serum and Gray Delay Hair Supplement. Made with caffeine, a blend of vitamins including B3, B5, B6, and E, and peptides, the serum controls the appearance of gray coloring on new hair growth while revitalizing the color and shine of existing gray hair.

According to the brand, the serum is best for people who have a "moderate" amount (about 30 percent or less) of gray hair. In a consumer study conducted by the brand, 64 percent of users who had up to 30 percent of gray hair saw less graying in about 90 days when using the Anti-Gray Hair Serum along the roots of gray strands daily.

So, how does it work? Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Dendy Engelman tells InStyle that peptides (a chain of amino acids that contributes to collagen, elastin, and keratin) can "restore your gray hairs to their natural shade," while the vitamin blend "strengthens the hair follicles," so "it's possible that they can help to restore the decaying hair tissues that produce gray hair and reduce premature graying."

But one of the star ingredients is Fo-Ti, an herb plant native to China that's "used for a multitude of things, one of which includes symptoms of premature aging," says Dr. Engelman. "It has been shown to improve gray hair, both maintaining your natural hair color and delaying the onset of new grays. It is considered a rejuvenating plant, thought to promote longevity."

For best results, Vegamour recommends using the Anti-Gray Hair Serum with the Gray Delay Hair Supplement, which is formulated with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and botanicals that preserve your hair's natural hair color and delay gray hair growth.
