If You Want to Support Black-Owned Beauty Brands, Shop Thirteen Lune
The site launches with 13 Black and Brown-owned brands in its arsenal
The first of its kind, Thirteen Lune is an online destination dedicated to carrying an extensive number of Black and Brown-owned brands, along with collections that specifically serve Black and Brown communities.
Not only will the platform, which launched on Dec. 2, give these brands a chance to shine, but they’re also dedicated to educating the consumer and sharing the history and heritage of Black and Brown cultures and communities.
“I love being a beauty founder and am committed to helping other Black and Brown beauty founders realize success,” Grieco, who is also the founder of nyakio Beauty, said in a statement. “Over the last 18 years, I have faced challenges as well as gained valuable experiences that allows me to give these founders the support they deserve and on a bigger stage. There is so much talent that is not being recognized at the level that it needs to be.”
Thirteen Lune is launching alongside 13 specifically curated Black and Brown-owned beauty labels that were created with everyone in mind (regardless of race or ethnicity), including Afro Pick, Beija Flor Naturals, Buttah Skin, Bomba Curls, Charlotte Mensah, Dehiya Beauty, Gilded Body, HyperSkin, Lauren Napier Beauty, Liha Beauty, Marie Hunter Beauty, Skot Beaute, and The Established.
“This is an opportunity to elevate these founders and to address the much bigger issue of alleviating systemic racism by building generational wealth in our communities,” said Grieco. “Change won’t happen unless we work in tandem to achieve this goal.”
In addition to these brands, Thirteen Lune will also carry lines that, while may not necessarily be Black or Brown-owned, make products specific to the beauty needs of Black and Brown communities or have expressed allyship and are inclusive in their product assortment.
