Taraji P. Henson Is a Total Goddess in Her Latest MAC Campaign
What do you get when you cross that Bond Girl gold with a Diana Ross at Studio 54 aesthetic? Taraji P. Henson's insanely-gorgeous MAC ad, of course. Today, the brand revealed that Henson would be joining forces with them once again to create her second Viva Glam shade. The 2017 lipstick is a rich bronze with a golden frost, while the Lipglass is a slightly lighter copper with a gilded pearl finish.
"It was a no-brainer when MAC approached me. For one, all the proceeds from the lipstick go toward helping women, men, and children affected by HIV and AIDS. And two, I’ve been wearing MAC since I was a teenager," Henson previously told InStyle. "So many companies launch makeup collections and five years later expand and say, 'We now have shades for the black girls!' But MAC has always been inclusive. I support that."
This is Henson's third time collaborating with the brand—in 2016, she released a limited-edition collection inspired by her own signature look, and later in the year, she fronted her first Viva Glam campaign alongside her Empire co-star Jussie Smollett.
Like the rest of MAC's Viva Glam line, all proceeds from Taraji's set will benefit the MAC AIDS Fund, which aims to help women, men, and children who are living with and are affected by the disease. In fact, the purchase of just one lipstick can provide a week of fresh fruit and vegetables to a mother and child affected by HIV, a resident of an HIV/AIDS housing organization with a new outfit for a job interview, a pair of shoes for a child orphaned by AIDS, 254 condoms to prevent the transmission of HIV, and much more.
