Smashbox Just Released a Makeup Collection Inspired By The Suicide Squad
And we’re loving every bit of it.
Ahead of the Aug. 6 release of the summer blockbuster The Suicide Squad, Smashbox just unveiled a new limited-edition Smashbox x The Suicide Squad makeup collection — and we can't wait to get our hands on it.
The line features five reimagined shades of the Be Legendary lipstick and Always On Cream eyeshadow. The makeup is housed in packaging that dons iconic scenes and characters from the film, including the unforgettable Harley Quinn, Mongal, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Javelin, Polka Dot Man, and Ratcatcher 2.
To create the collection, Smashbox partnered with the movie's makeup department head Heba Thorisdottir, who has also worked on several other movie hits, including Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Django Unchained, Bridesmaids, and Captain Marvel.
"When Smashbox contacted me to work on the collection, I was super excited," says Thorisdottir. "Throughout my career, Smashbox has always been a top player when it comes to pro-color pay-off and hardworking formulas."

Smashbox prides themselves on taking the behind-the-scenes know-how of camera-ready beauty and incorporating it into easy-to-use everyday products — and this collection is no different.
Fans have the chance to create artistic looks with bold, creamy eye shadows and dark, rich lipsticks.
"I really like the eyeshadows, I feel like a five-year-old when I squeeze them out of the tube, I just want to finger paint with them," says Thorisdottir. "You can smudge them to create a smoky eye, or you can apply a little bit of the liquid as an eyeliner."
As excited as we are about this new collection and the film, don't think that Thorrisdottir job came easy, as she admits she was under a lot of pressure to craft the looks.
"Bringing comic drawings to life can be very hard because you don't want to let the fans down," she says. But to make it come to life, the makeup artist worked closely with the special effects team to perfect each look — so it comes as no surprise that she's already receiving praise for the accuracy.
While we're super hype about Smashbox's latest collection, it's not the only thing to be excited about. Thorrisdottir is set to release unique, character-inspired tutorials using the limited-edition collection.
So, if you're a movie or a makeup buff, you can try your very own ready-to-wear looks, designed with a professional's behind-the-scenes touch.
