When it first launched in 2018, Summer Friday's deeply hydrating Jet Lag Mask was an instant hit, beloved by beauty editors, skincare enthusiasts, and a running list of celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Jessica Alba. The mask became so popular, one sold every two minutes in 2019. However, at the beginning of this year, fans of the brand began reporting complaints of irritation from using the mask. After discovering that some batches of the mask from its third-party manufacturer had been compromised during production, Summer Fridays issued an apology, pulled the masks from store shelves, and offered refunds to customers who purchased masks from the bad batches. At the time, Summer Fridays hinted it would relaunch its beloved mask, and now, the brand is making good on its promise. Jet Lag Mask 2.0 drops on June 15 for $48, with a revamped formula that's free of all fragrance, including essential oils, to reduce the risk of skin sensitivity. This Best-Selling Face Mask Hides Tired Skin in 10 Minutes Like the original, the revamped formula contains a nourishing blend of niacinamide, glycerin, and hyaluronic acid. The brand has also added additional soothing ingredients, including vitamin B5, chamomile, and comfrey. Summer Fridays has taken further steps to ensure the formula won't potentially cause sensitivity with clinical testing and establishing new manufacturing protocols following OTC-level guidelines as well. Jet Lag 2.0 still come in its fully will come in its fully recyclable tube, but will be boxed in a tree-free outer carton made from 90% sugar cane stalks. According to Summer Fridays, the stalks are converted into paper fiber instead of being thrown in a landfill or burned after being processed for sugar.
