You decorate yourself with pearl jewelry, so why not indulge in a face serum that's inspired by pearls, as well? Lucky for you, Parisian brand Marie D'Argan just started selling some, and it's a pretty opulent skin-care buy if we do say so.

What you see in the Marie D'Argan Pearl Serum Age Defense bottle ($119, MarieDArganUSA.com) are little, pearl-like, opalescent spheres that contain sea algae and oatmeal.

The spheres keep the ingredients fresh and potent until you're ready to apply, which the brand refers to as "pearl technology." As you dispense the product, the tiny capsules "pop," so to speak, activating the rejuvenating ingredients as they're pumped out of the container. While the spheres are technically man-made pearls—the real thing would be far from cost-friendly and not very environmentally sustainable—they look just like the oyster-produced stuff.

Once applied to your face, the serum absorbs into your skin in seriously record time (we're talking under 15 seconds), smells heavenly, and leaves your skin feeling smooth and hydrated.

Rather appropriately, it also creates a subtle, mother-of-pearl like sheen. We're calling it "mermaid glow."

All that goodness for your skin, and you didn't even have to disturb a single oyster in the process!
