I've Been Bleach Blonde for Years, and This Purple Shampoo Tones as Well as a Trip to the Salon
Pureology's Strength Cure wash has the rare ability to tone my light locks without drying them out. If you've ever tried purple shampoo before, you likely know just how damaging it can be (especially if your strands are already processed from the salon). After a wash, you're often left with toned pieces that have your desired color, yet feel like hay.
The vegan and sulfate-free ingredients in this shampoo, however, don't strip my hair of moisture or scrub away its natural oils. Purple orchid, rose, sandalwood, and keravis (a conditioning protein) work together to form a refreshing formula that brightens, strengthens, and conditions my hair with every wash. It's potent without being problematic, too. Some purple shampoos are so pigmented that they can temporarily dye your locks, but I've left this one in my strands for upwards of 15 minutes and have yet to experience any scary coloring after the fact.
This kind of no-nonsense appeal might be why it's garnered a solid 4.5-star rating from more than 2,000 shoppers on Amazon. Reviewers call it "incredible" and praise its "instant toning results."
"It really helps to reduce the brassy tones," wrote one person. "This brand does not irritate my very sensitive skin. It leaves my hair looking shiny and healthy. I like the scent, too."
One of my favorite things about this shampoo is its ability to create a lasting and noticeable difference after each use. It takes my hair from golden honey to icy blonde in five minutes or less — I look like I'm coming straight from the salon, when in reality I just left my shower.
