Nail Art Know How: Crystal Clear

Welcome to #ManiMonday, a video series in which we show you how to create original nail art designs from a new pro every month.

There's "five-minute nail art" and then there's five-minute nail art—those designs so easy-peasy, you could execute 'em in your sleep and still look chic. This week's look—by manicurist Casey Herman—falls into the latter camp.

First, lay down a coat of clear base—or, if you want to mask discoloration, use a super-pale pink polish like Essie Gel Couture in "Fairy Tailor" ($12; essie.com) instead. Add a clear top coat for extra shine.

Then, dip a striper brush in Butter London's "Union Jack Black" polish ($15; butterlondon.com) and outline an elongated diamond on each nail.

Finish with clear top coat, and you've got yourself a sleek design that doubles as bling.
