Photo: Getty Images After spending a lifetime trying to cover up my freckles, I am now finding myself drawing additional ones on to accentuate the undesirable feature that's somehow become a major beauty trend. If I have 100 freckles, I will have 120 by the time my makeup routine is done. In my quest to show off my freckles more than ever, I've also started searching for a way to forgo the need for foundation altogether, and in the process, ended up looking to Meghan Markle for advice. In 2016, Markle told Hello! that Laura Mercier's best-selling Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer is one of her absolute beauty favorites, saying, "It's not sparkly, it's true to its name, illuminating." As it turns out, Markle actually dislikes the heaviness of foundation, and relies on this Laura Mercier moisturizer to give her skin a dewy glow. Markle's face is just about one of the most luminous things I've ever seen, and I haven't been so instantly sold on something in years. Courtesy Shop now: From $42 (Originally $49); nordstrom.com and sephora.com Upon buying the moisturizer from Nordstrom, I was shocked to see thousands of five-star ratings from shoppers. The product is just about as beloved as Markle's face, which is likely not a coincidence. Regardless of shoppers' motivation for buying the tinted moisturizer, one thing is clear: It's as illuminating as Markle says. Thankfully, the product is currently on sale at Nordstrom as well, although it is known for selling out. The product goes on easily, and I prefer to apply it with my fingertips. I only need a dollop to cover my entire face, and within seconds, I feel my skin completely wake up. Not only does it moisturize better than most products in my skincare routine, but it gives the kind of sheer coverage I've always dreamed of. Since I've started using it, people have started complimenting my skin more and are shocked when I tell them the glow is from a moisturizer, not a highlighter. Best of all, my freckles still peek through when I wear it, but it gives me the confidence to not need foundation at all. It's complete with SPF 30 protection and a slight tint that makes me look completely sunkissed — right in time for summer. Clearly, they don't call it the Markle sparkle for nothing.
