This Matte Foundation Covers Up My Redness Like No Other
I'm on an Rx for my rosacea, but more immediately, I've been searching for foundation to cover the redness on my skin. After a ton of trial-and-error (and plenty of makeup wipes), I finally found a formula that masks my chronic redness, and still looks natural — something I never thought was possible to find in one formula.
Enter Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation. The liquid foundation is actually somewhat of a cult classic, but the brand just expanded its skin tone range up to 40 shades to make it easier for customers to find their perfect match.
What sets it apart is that it's not your traditional matte foundation. It's actually classified as a "natural matte," which basically means your skin won't lack that subtle glow and shine that skin naturally has when it catches the light. And because it's made with hydrating hyaluronic acid, it also doesn't cake up, flake off, or settle into any fine lines around your nose your mouth.

Perhaps the thing I love the most about it (and this has always been a foundation struggle for me) is that it does. not. oxidize — AKA when the foundation turns orange on your skin. The tone and the formula itself is set on your skin for up to 24 hours. I'm 2.16, what the brand classifies as "light with warm golden undertone."
Considering we're headed into winter — the season when I'm generally pink all the time — this was a life-changing discovery. I look forward to the day where my Rx truly takes care of my rosacea, but until then, I've got a solid plan A.
