Photo: KISS for Markarian In couture, it's a commonly traded anecdote that professional sewers are working on the priceless, entirely handmade creations of legendary designers up until mere minutes before they're revealed to the world. At New York Fashion Week, the collections may not have been officially defined as "haute couture" by the governing body of the Chambre Syndicale, but painstaking attention to detail nonetheless required production teams to add their final touches in the very seconds prior to sending models down the runway. For Markarian, which showed its Fall/Winter 2022 collection last week during NYFW, that pursuit of perfection extended to models' lashes and nails. For these key components, Markarian, worn by everyone from Priyanka Chopra to Jill Biden, put its trust in the drugstore brand Kiss, according to the brand's PR. Celebrity nail artist Gina Edwards outfitted models with pearled, bedazzled, and jewel-toned nails, using Kiss' Salon Acrylic Natural glue-on nails, which she embellished with Kiss' Jewel Accents rhinestones and more. The opulent details complemented the collection's equally sequin-studded, more-is-more pieces that celebrated the dopamine dressing trend that's taking over closets everywhere. To complete their looks, Markarian models turned once again to Kiss for its My Lash but Better adhesive lashes, plus its Lash Couture Strip Lash Adhesive to comfortably affix them. The effect was enviable doe eyes that looked so organic, you'd never guess they were fake. Once the final looks were completed from tips to toe, perfectly polished models debuted Markarian's cutting-edge collection down the catwalk, where front row onlookers including Nicky Hilton Rothschild and Candace Bushnell (the real Carrie Bradshaw) took it all in. The most surprising part about Kiss' invaluable role in the show is just how affordable it is to recreate the looks (and create your own!) using the exact same products. Kiss' stick-on French and nude nails start at just $5, or you can choose from over 15 embellished nail designs. Its lashes, too, are a mere $5 a pack on Amazon, and a whole tube of the gentle adhesive to attach them is only slightly more at $6. It doesn't get better than that.
