For all the advances that science makes daily, we should have a national day of celebration. I mean, the field is soon to bequeath us a coronavirus vaccine, on top of giving us progress towards sustainable skincare and Jennifer Aniston-approved supplements that promise to buff up your capacity for glowing skin and shiny hair. And while most of the murky depths of the ocean are still a mystery, we do know that one brand has the science to make a damn fine facial oil from sea-sourced ingredients thanks to Chrissy Teigen.
In the sad blur that was this summer, one bright spot was Teigen and Olivia Munn respectively taking to Instagram to make public their love for Mara’s face oil. Teigen referred to it as “her jam,” and Munn posted a selfie of her absurdly smooth skin with the caption “been using that algae + moringa face oil from @themarabeauty.”
The two join Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Molly Sims, Katherine Schwarzenegger, Jen Atkin, and Katie Jane Hughes as fans of the brand’s formulas, which use marine spirulina and kelp to deliver antioxidants and vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, plus fruit enzymes to exfoliate and chia, moringa, and squalane oil to hydrate with omega fatty acids. Together, the brand says the blend stimulates natural hyaluronic acid synthesis and strengthens your skin barrier for youthful-looking, firm skin.
Shortly after Munn and Teigen posted about the brand’s Universal Face Oil, the line sold out — and given Teigen’s devout following, you can’t blame them. Now, Mara’s products are back and more accessible than ever with a new home on Amazon, so you can buy Teigen’s skin clarity along with a bamboo cutting board and 20-cent face masks (the glamour is uneven), and track that happiness right to your front door for the holidays.

Since Mara’s new to the online retailer, reviews for its products are scarce. But on the brand’s Instagram, its followers are effusive about the results they see. Of the Algae Retinol Face Oil, one shopper writes, “Love this. I only use [it] twice a week and see results immediately.” Another says it hydrates and brightens their skin so well, they’ve noticed reduced spots and fine lines.

The brand’s Vitamin C oil earns just as much praise: “I absolutely love this serum. After only two weeks I can see results,” one shopper quoted by the brand notes of their brighter complexion and lightening hyperpigmentation. Another writes, “Love the vitamin C serum! It has really helped with the dark spots I have, and [I] love the extra hydration it provides.”

And if you’re reaching for any product or sun lamp that can simulate a tropical vacation, people say the Natural Sea Vitamin C Glow Supplement tastes like a piña colada and makes them feel amazing (and gets to work on bouncy skin from the inside out, while also warding off sickness via 500mg of vitamin C). It’s not a beach vacation, but this year, it’ll do the trick.
