Celebrity makeup artist Mai Quynh, who works with such stars as Jessica Biel, applied eye makeup before foundation, because "if any makeup falls, it's easier to wipe off." She lined the upper and lower lids with a black cream liner and smudged with a flat brush to mimic Avril Lavigne's smoky effect.

To make the liner extra sultry and sexy, Quynh brushed charcoal shadow along lash lines. Next, she swept a shimmery mauve shadow up to the brow bone.

Quynh smoothed sheer, matte-finish foundation onto Berneis's face with her fingertips. ("If you have super-dry skin, mix it with moisturizer," she says.) She blended it in with a sponge for a seamless, glowing finish like Scarlett Johansson's, then dabbed a bit of brightening concealer under the eyes.

After brushing pale peach blush onto the apples of the cheeks, Quynh lined the mouth with lip-colored pencil and filled it in with brownish-rose lipstick. To create shiny lips like Ashlee Simpson's, she finished with a layer of pale pink gloss.

Star hairstylist Renato Campora, who works with Kate Bosworth, framed Berneis's face with long layers like Evangeline Lilly's. After drying, he created big, loose curls with a 1-inch-barrel iron.
