The Splurge is our recurring column dedicated to expensive beauty products that are actually worth it. This week, why we're rebuying Kosas' Revealer Concealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer, despite the $28 price tag.

Clean makeup brand Kosas first got my attention thanks to Rami Malek. When the actor took the 2019 Oscars stage to accept the Best Actor award for his role as Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rapsody, I was mesmerized by the healthiest, most glowy skin I have ever seen on a man.

It turns out Malek was wearing Kosas' Tinted Face Oil, a cult-favorite product that blurs the lines between foundation and face oil, with its sheer coverage and hydrating, radiance-boosting skincare-inspired ingredients like jojoba and avocado oils.

Since then, Kosas has dropped its second complexion product, the Revealer Concealer, a medium coverage concealer that's super creamy and easily blendable. The 16 available shades correspond to the shades of the Tinted Face Oil, which makes color-matching less of spend-three-hours-in-Sephora type process.

With botancial extracts that support skin healing, energizing caffeine, and collagen-boosting peptides, Kosas says the concealer's formula is like a "concealer, eye cream, and spot treatment in one," and can improve the appearance of skin over time with regular use.

Given that Tinted Face Oils gives me glowy, Oscar Winner-skin, and I'm now a fan of the brand's other products including the lipstick and eyeshadow, I had high expectations for this concealer when the brand sent me a sample to try.

And my dear reader, I was not disappointed. Revealer has a smooth texture that's similar to NARS' Radiant Creamy Concealer and Laura Mercier's Flawless Fusion Concealer — my two absolute ride-or-die concealers. Plus, It's effortless to apply, whether you use a Beautyblender — like I do — a brush, or your fingers. And I find that despite its dewy finish, I still get a lot of coverage in just one coat, and only have to tap a bit extra on the couple of broken blood vessels around my nose, and the odd hormonal zit.

But the best part may be the fact that it didn't oxidize or smudge during the day. I know this because I asked my mom when I saw her that night. She told me my skin "looked really good and shiny in the right places." And my mom would never lie.

Along with the rest of the brand's products, Kosas' concealer is quick and essentially effortless to use, plus they all perform the best out of the clean, non-toxic makeup products I've tried. While Reveal's $28 isn't exactly ridiculous, it's not cheap either. That being said, long-wear, smudge-free coverage is priceless so I'm going to restock. Go ahead and take my money, Kosas.
