PSA: There’s never been an "eyebrows or lips" rule. And after you see Krysten Ritter’s makeup, you’ll wonder why you didn’t go bold with each of these facial features simultaneously sooner. For the premiere of Marvel’s The Defenders, Ritter walked the red carpet in a scarlet sequined Julien Macdonald dress that rivals Dorothy’s shoes, and crimson red matte lipstick to match.

Celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose used Lancôme’s Color Design Matte Lip Crayon in Oui ($24; macys.com) on Ritter’s lips, but added a balancing focal point by creating "cool gamine brows" for the actress.

"I love pairing something ultra feminine like bold red mouth with something androgynous like full, straight, no arches boyish brows, the balance help keeping it from going overboard," he wrote in his Instagram caption.

In order to give Ritter’s brows the straight shape, Barose reached for Glossier’s Boy Brows in Black ($16; glossier.com) and used the wand to brush the hair up.
