When Hailey Bieber announced her own skincare line, Rhode, I worried that her product recommendation-filled TikTok and YouTube videos would be no more. I wondered if, like other celebrities with beauty brands, she'd stand in front of the camera and pretend nothing existed outside the five-product Rhode line. Thankfully, that does not seem to be the case. The model recently appeared in an episode of Vogue's Beauty Secrets, where she divulged her 16-product date night look using Rhode alongside a handful of other brands.

Thrown in the mix were the innovative, reusable eye patches from Dieux as well as the Dior Blush that is perpetually sold out thanks to TikTok. I was entranced by the blush layering look Bieber demonstrated, but even more so by her subtle yet striking Mac Gigablack Lash Mascara.

Bieber curled her lashes and then showed her tube of Mac mascara to the camera, explaining that her technique has been to focus exclusively on the top lashes — coating them in a few layers of mascara — but leaving her bottom lashes untouched. "I feel like it's more fresh-looking," she said.

While she doesn't name the TikTok cat eye mascara technique outright, Bieber does mention elsewhere in the video that she loves to watch the innovative and creative makeup looks often found on the social media platform. So perhaps her top lash-only approach to mascara is her own version of this.

While you can use any mascara to try this look, there are certain benefits to the Mac Gigablack. As one five-star reviewer on the Mac site puts it, "the wand is small but it delivers the perfect amount of mascara on each lash." They continued, "It coats and separates each lash very precisely and doesn't make them clump. It holds curl extremely well, adds noticeable length and some volume, and looks super natural."

The mascara has amassed quite a following, with over 1,500 five-star reviews across retailers like Nordstrom and Macys. A number of shoppers focused on praising the long-lasting, smudge-proof formula, along with the wand that one 69-year-old Nordstrom reviewer said made their "pale" lashes "look much longer."

If you're looking for a foolproof everyday mascara that won't smudge or run in the summer heat and humidity, many shoppers think the Mac Gigablack Mascara is it. Get your hands on a tube of the Hailey Bieber-approved stuff at Nordstrom.
