Daily Beauty Buzz: Gabrielle Union's Matte Red Lipstick

Red lipstick is always a good idea. The crimson shade never looks out of place, whether it's on the red carpet, or front row at a fashion show as demonstrated by Gabrielle Union yesterday at Paris Men's Fashion Week.

The actress took in Lanvin's SS18 show while wearing one of the best matte red lips we've seen in awhile. Union's makeup artist Vincent Oquendo kept the lip the focus by pairing it with fresh, dewy skin. "I love to play with texture, so I knew I had to pair Gabrielle's freshly-flashed face with a matte lip," Oquendo said of the look. "You can appreciate her glossy skin even more when you feel the texture of that matte lip. Oquendo prepped Union's complexion with the DERMAFLASH exfoliating device ($189; sephora.com) the day before, and used a combo of NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ($47; nordstrom.com) and Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage Concealer ($35; nordstrom.com) on show day to achieve her radiant complexion.

As for the aforementioned lipstick? Oquendo coated Union's lips with Kat Von D's Liquid Lipstick in Nosferatu ($20; sephora.com), a high-pigmented formula known for its staying power.
