This InStyle Editor Put 3 Dark Foundations to the Test

When Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty and its 40 shade foundation range last year, it was the inclusive collection the world had been calling for.

Now, more and more brands are listening, finally increasing the range of foundation shades they offer so that there are options that cater to skin tones that weren't always represented in the makeup aisles. Yet it can still be tough for dark and deep-toned women to find a shade that's their perfect match.

InStyle beauty editor-at-large Kahlana Barfield Brown has experienced the struggle firsthand throughout her years in the industry. That's why, along with celebrity makeup artist Joanna Simkin, she's putting three foundations to the test.
