And the moon is a powerful tool in leveling up our skincare game. It's one of the most potent and energetic forces in the universe — and being that the moon controls the tides of the ocean, and humans are composed of 60% water, it makes sense to align our beauty routines with the moon. The eight phases of the moon (this is the complete lunar cycle that lasts approximately 29.5 days) can help us glow up, detox, and restore our skin. It can also aid in giving our skin new life and detox pent up energy that needs to be released. This means that we should all become lunatics (lovers of the moon) when it comes to our skincare routines. Here, we share what to look out for and which product to use during each moon phase. Place it on your face to steam your skin. Then, take a cloth in lukewarm water and apply it to your face. Air dry or pat down your skin with a clean towel. Then apply a deep facial moisturizer to your thirsty skin. Courtesy To shop: $28; target.com Waxing Gibbous This lunar phase occurs right before the all encompassing and revealing full moon. It's a phase is a moment of revelation and release. We are starting to let go of the negativity in our lives. Therefore, it's time to give your skin a good detox and release all the tension built up. Using a face brush can help to massage the skin, as well as get rid of impurities. It's a heightened energetic time when we are able to see through the darkness of the sky and lean into our intuition. It's also a moment to rest and relax. Give your skin a break during the Full Moon. If you want to, taking a soothing bath with Epsom salt, flowers, and crystals can heal the body, mind, and aura. Moisturize after and have a long slumber. Use a face roller or gua sha stone (any crystal face roller is great, although I prefer rose quartz) to help calm the energy and to release residual tensions that are lying dormant under the skin. This will serve as a great way to even out inflammation, decrease fine lines and dark circles under the eyes, minimize breakouts, and brighten skin. Overstimulating your skin can overwhelm it. Simply wash your face with a gentle cleanser in the evening. Courtesy To shop: $9; glossier.com Waning Crescent This is the final phase of the moon.
