Drew Barrymore Uses This Clay Mask to Fight Breakouts
“It says to leave it on for 10 minutes, so I’m going for 30.”
Whether it's a sporadic hormonal issue or a consistent struggle with adult acne, breakouts are just plain frustrating. You can shell out hundreds on products, switch up your diet, change your name and move to another state, and still, those little bumps don’t budge. So, when we see a celebrity dealing with the same skincare woes, it brings an odd sense of comfort knowing we’re not alone in the struggle.
Most recently, Drew Barrymore took to Instagram to share a delightfully entertaining video of how she takes on her own bouts of adult acne using Caudalie’s Purifying Mask.
Some relatable lyrics from the star’s improvised solo hit include: “Caudalie, Caudalie, help my weird hormonal breakouts. Why am I 45 with the skin of a prepubescent boy?” and “Help me, please.” Stars — they’re just like us!
Barrymore went on to say that the mask was recommended to her by makeup artist, Lottie, who shared with her the pro tip of applying the mask as an overnight spot treatment. In the video, she slathers it on for an all-over treatment saying, “It says to leave it on for 10 minutes, so I’m going for 30.”
Looking at the rundown of the mask’s all-natural ingredients list, it’s no surprise the actress and Flower Cosmetics founder has added it to her own ethical acne-fighting arsenal. The plant-based purifying mask is formulated with white clays, cypress, sage, lavender, and chamomile extract to purify and tighten pores. It also features nourishing grape-seed oil and super ingredient squalane so skin is left moisturized and hydrated after the mask is rinsed off.
Drew and Lottie aren’t the only ones who call the mask a must-have, though. Right now, it’s entirely sold-out at Nordstrom and, looking through the rave reviews left by Sephora shoppers, it’s easy to see why.
“I've been using this stuff for about three weeks now and, from the first use, I noticed that it really shrinks your pores considerably,” wrote one reviewer. “It really draws out any pimples that I have so they go away faster, too. Not to mention the smell of this product is very herbal and soothing so that it's almost like I'm giving myself a little at-home spa treatment! When I rinse the product off, my skin feels super soft afterwards.”
Head to Sephora to get the clay mask Drew Barrymore swears by for fighting breakouts, no singing necessary.
