The hero ingredient holds special meaning to the brand, as it was founder Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel's favorite flower. Coincidentally, in addition to representing romantic love and smelling delightful, the rich red camellia flower offers a few noteworthy skincare benefits. "It supports skin vitality, thereby enabling skin to remain healthy looking for a longer period of time," the brand says of the flower in a statement. "Naturally rich in antioxidants, it also helps protect skin from the consequences of stress and helps improve quality for a skin that looks radiantly youthful." After spending over a decade researching the camellia plant, Chanel developed each product in the No.1 de Chanel collection to target the five signs of aging: fine lines, wrinkles, the appearance of pores, loss of elasticity, and dullness. The products are priced from $45 to $110, and available at Chanel.com and stores, as well as Ulta.com and Ulta Beauty stores. What Does "Clean Beauty" Actually Mean? In an effort to be more sustainable, Chanel says the No.1 de Chanel Collection is made with ingredients up to 97% natural in origin and 76% camellia derivatives, including the petals, seeds and yeasts, to reduce waste. The packaging is also recyclable and refillable. The use of single-use plastics was limited, and they removed cellophane and leaflets from the boxes. Ahead, a deep dive into the collection's skincare, makeup, and fragrance products.
