Your Hair and Makeup Is Going to Be Sparkly in 2022

According to this celebrity beauty trend.

The second coming of frosted eyeshadow, chunky highlights, and snap clips have made 2021 look (and feel) like 2002. And guess what? Nothing's gonna change in 2022 — particularly the decade's obsession with bedazzling everything, from Motorola flip phones to tank tops.

There's no better canvas for rhinestones than your hair and face, and that's exactly what celebrities have been bedazzling on red carpets like the 2021 VMAs and Met Gala. Hints of sparkle have also popped up on Spring/Summer 2022 runways, including Simone Rocha and Luar, further confirming that hair and face jewelry will be trending next year.

Ahead, we've compiled a few ideas on how to make your makeup and hair looks sparkle, whether you have in-person plans or feel like being glamorous while you continue to WFH on your couch.

You could say Keys's slick chignon shines as bright as the New York City lights, thanks to the crystals adorning her style. The singer's hairstylist Nai'vsha turned to TRESemmé's Flawless Curls Defining Gel to the perimeter of her head for a sleek finish.

Kacey Musgraves

In the early aughts, everything from flip phones to jeans were bedazzled, and since Y2K trends are making a comeback, why not add some crystals to your hair, too? Hairstylist Giovanni Delgado placed crystals all throughout Musgraves's long mermaid waves, while makeup artist Moani Lee went with a shimmery purple smoky eye and silver body highlighter for even more sparkle.

Pearls aren't just for necklaces and earrings. The gemstones make an elegant alternative to eyeliner. For the 2021 Met Gala, makeup artist Pauly Blanch placed individual pearls in a halo shape around Reid's eyelids and brow bone to create a negative space eyeliner look. A few coats of Maybelline's upcoming Colossal Curl Bounce Mascara really made the actress' eyes pop.
