That was one of our first thoughts upon seeing Sandra Oh's outfit from the 2022 Critics' Choice Awards. Oh, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in The Chair, truly stole the show in a bright white column dress, which featured a plunging neckline. The Lafayette 148 design was sleek, sophisticated, and slightly sexy. With the addition of a veil or an embellished headband, it would make for the perfect look for a fashion-forward bride. While we send our thoughts directly to the brand (possibly for selfish reasons), Lafayette 148's creative director, Emily Smith, revealed her actual inspiration for the dress with InStyle. "For Sandra, we wanted to create something that was dramatic yet understated; minimal yet a standout," she told us via email, sharing a sketch of the look. "For me, there is an inherent beauty and modern confidence that comes with architectural lines, and clean, minimal design. I'm a firm believer that clothes should never wear the wearer but enhance the wearer's character and charisma." Yes, yes, and more yes. We agree — Oh definitely looked stunning. The two are a big fans of the brand when it comes to dressing their clients.
