With the 86th annual Academy Awards less than two weeks away, we're looking forward to another inspired look from Roberts, who is nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for August: Osage County. To celebrate her big night, we've compiled her best looks from the past few months to give you a preview of what's to come on March 2nd, when the Oscars air on ABC. Capturing our hearts both on and off the screen, Roberts will always be one of America's sweethearts, but her style has grown to reflect an edgier side of her personality, and we can't wait to see what the star will bring us on the red carpet. Usually wears: Evolving over the years, Roberts' looks have reflected her growing confidence. While ensembles in black-and-white have been her go-to, her looks have become more tailored, even opting for menswear-inspired outfits in recent months. Favorite designers:Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Elie Saab, and Valentino. Wildcard factor: Her out-of-the-box, but still appropriate style combinations include the Dolce & Gabbana gown she layered over a white button-down shirt at the 2014 Golden Globes. "She just looked so comfortable in it. That was what she wanted to wear, and she wasn't worried about what anyone else thought," says InStyle's Fashion News Director Eric Wilson of Roberts' ensemble. "That is quintessential glamour. That is quintessential Julia Roberts," states InStyle's editor Ariel Foxman. The actress never fails to stay true to her personality, and never lets a gown wear her. What we'd like to see: "I'd love to see her take a silhouette risk and do the black-and-white again... I'd love a black-and-white Valentino jumpsuit, actually," states Sarah Easley of New York City boutique Kirna Zabete during our #OscarsDressDebate. "She’s an icon," states designer Rachel Roy. "Anytime you see Julia Roberts, she’s choosing the dress as opposed to the dress choosing her or something just being handed to her. That strength about her character and her personality is something I am very inspired by." Want more Julia Roberts? Look through our gallery to see her best red carpet looks from this awards season!
