Global Green's Oscar Pre-Party
Gearing up for Hollywood's biggest night, the stars assembled for the 6th annual Global Green USA pre-Oscar party. Leonardo DiCaprio, Rosario Dawson and Kate Walsh flocked to L.A. hot spot Avalon, where they rocked out to live performances by Sheryl Crow and Gavin Rossdale. "We're not just a tree-hugging group, we're the wave of the future," declared Global Green supporter Kate Bosworth (in a Loewe dress and jewelry by Chanel). "Now it's a central movement that's meant to inspire future generations."
Gavin Rossdale and Sheryl Crow
After taking turns for their own solo sets, Gavin Rossdale and Sheryl Crow teamed up to perform the Beatles' "Hide Your Love Away." The one-night-only concert raised funds for the Green Schools program in New Orleans, with an emphasis on improving student health and performance, creating green jobs, and solving climate problems. "I like green—I like trees, I love dollar bills!" exclaimed Crow, encouraging the audience to open their wallets and give generously.
Before hitting the arrivals line-which was carpeted in fresh green grass-guests like Kate Walsh (in Stella McCartney) arrived in an environmentally-friendly Audi Q7 TDI clean diesel car to promote the "Red Carpet/Green Cars" campaign. "I have two hybrids!" said the actress, when asked what's in her own garage. "I'm doing my small part. It's time to save the planet!"
Spotted sneaking in to the club, Gwen Stefani was asked if she was there to catch husband Gavin Rossdale's charitable gig. "Yes I am!" said the singer, who rocked a pair of sky-high platform stilettos for her night out.
Rosario Dawson arrived at the event fashionably late, heading straight for the V.I.P. area, where she and fellow guests Leonardo DiCaprio, Heather Graham and Radha Mitchell snacked on organic fare and sipped cocktails mixed with Rain vodka.
"My dress is by is Mr. Larkin and it's made from milk fiber and the necklace is recycled jewelry," said Hollywood Green host Maria Menounos of her eco-chic ensemble. "We're at that point where there's no choice anymore, we have to embrace the idea of being green."
"I think it's great that so many celebrities come out for such a good cause," said Mad Men's Alison Brie (in BCBG Max Azria) who stopped by the event after arriving home from New York Fashion Week. While Brie wanted to lend her voice to the cause, she also had an ulterior motive for showing up. "I am such a fan of Gavin Rossdale," she admitted. "He's so cute!"
