High Notes From the 2010 Grammys
Lady Gaga and Elton John
Though they looked a little worse for the wear, Lady Gaga and Elton John celebrated a killer opening number backstage. Gaga wore one of the custom Giorgio Armani Prive ensembles created just for her when she joined Sir Elton (both wore Swarovski crystal-encrusted sunglasses from Armani) onstage to belt out a medley of tunes that included "Poker Face" and "Your Song."
"I'm so excited, I'm blown away!" said Taylor Swift after receiving her first statuette-the 20-year-old picked up two awards before the live show even started and went on to win one more for a total of four-during the Grammy telecast.
Beyonce and Rihanna
One-named wonders Beyonce-who took home a record-setting 6 trophies-and Rihanna (in Elie Saab) showed off both the long and the short of the year's best Grammys style when they caught up backstage.
Britney Spears made a low-key appearance at the ceremony, rushing down the red carpet and into the Staples Center to take her seat just moments before the show began. The pop princess let her sultry Dolce & Gabbana lace dress and body suit-which she paired with earrings from Penny Preville-do all the talking.
Though her lightning bolt-inspired outfit made it a bit difficult for those sitting in the rows behind her to see the action on the stage, Lady Gaga's Armani Prive outfits were a show unto themselves. "We hear Lady Gaga's music everywhere we go. It is like a soundtrack of our times," said Mr. Armani in a statement to the press. "In addition to her formidable songwriting skills, she is a modern fashion phenomenon."
Pink and Taylor Swift
After receiving a standing ovation for her gravity-defying performance of "Glitter in the Air," Pink got a more personal congratulations from Taylor Swift (in Kaufman Franco). "I lost. But I really won:) I made my point:) thanks for all your love and support. Truly," Pink tweeted from backstage. "Now I'm going to eat!!! A LOT Of FOOD."
