Ellen Pompeo Rocked a Butt-Length Ponytail at the Emmy Awards

Someone page Dr. Grey, because we're unwell: Ellen Pompeo just debuted a sleek, butt-length ponytail at the 2021 Emmys that made our jaws collectively drop to the floor.

The Grey's Anatomy star graced the Emmy's stage with a new 'do that she paired with a chic and sophisticated black velvet jumpsuit, complete with embellished stone pinstripes, a mock turtleneck, and structured shoulders.

Celebrity hairstylist Ryan Richman used R+Co products — like the High Dive Moisture and Shine Creme and R+Co BLEU Optical Illusion Smoothing Oil — to slick Pompeo's hair off her face. The gorgeous pony cascaded all the way down to her butt as she graced the stage to honor her friend and co-star Debbie Allen, who received the 2021 Governor's Award. She was accompanied by Jada Pinkett Smith, Ava Duvernay, and Michael Douglas, who all held canes, paying homage to Allen's iconic character in Fame.

For makeup, Beau Nelson used Face Gym and Amorepacific products to prep her skin, followed by a blend of Armani Beauty, Chanel, and Charlotte Tilbury products to create soft glam.

In July, Pompeo opened up about standing up for herself and knowing what she's worth to InStyle's editor in chief Laura Brown on an episode of Ladies First With Laura Brown.

"I have a lot of privilege, so that has allowed me to stand up and say what I think and what I feel because I have a certain level of power," she said. "I feel protected to do that — I wasn't always."
