Healthy World Healthy Child Book Launch
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren
Hollywood took the lead in going green Wednesday at a cocktail party hosted by People magazine in honor of the new book Healthy Child, Healthy World: Creating a Cleaner, Greener, Safer Home, written by Christopher Gavigan. It was definitely a family affair with Gavigan’s wife, actress Jessica Capshaw, and her famous parents Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw topping the guest list. "We have a new house and we're trying to make it as green as possible by renovating and trying to do everything eco-friendly and non-toxic," said expectant mom Jessica Alba (in Gold Hawk) who was accompanied by fiance Cash Warren. "When you have a little person that you're responsible for, you think differently about everything from the household cleaners to paint you're using."

"You tell someone you're working on this and all of a sudden it's starts to have this snowball effect," said Healthy Child, Healthy World director Christopher Gavigan (right) of the celebrities-including Gwyneth Paltrow, Keri Russell and Michelle Obama-who contributed essays to the book. Gavigan was also inspired by the support of his wife Jessica and famous in-laws, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw. "That family makes an impact. No matter what the touch it’s meaningful and powerful. That's what I wanted to do with this book," Gavigan explained.
"This book is so important for every parent to read," said Amy Smart (in Ports 1961). "It offers a better understanding on simple ways to make your house more healthy for your children." Other environmentally-friendly celebrities who came to show their support of Gavigan's mission included Melissa Joan Hart, Julie Bowen and Laura Dern.

Among the expectant parents in the crowd at Hollywood eatery Lucques were Desperate Housewives star Kyle McLaughlin and Desiree Gruber, who chatted with mother of two Laura Dern about their impending arrival. "It's nice because we will be able to use the book as a reference for all the things that we need to do to create a healthy environment for our baby," said the proud papa-to-be.
