From haute couture to hoodies, the fashion was as diverse as the guest list at Chanel's 8th annual Tribeca Film Festival dinner, held at legendary neighborhood haunt Odeon. While Debra Messing and Kerry Washington wore designs from the Karl Lagerfeld's Spring 2009 collection, other guests didn't feel the need to adhere to a Chanel-only dress code. Mary-Kate Olsen paired her Nina Ricci tunic with a TopShop belt, Bradley Cooper worried he was under-dressed in cargo pants, and Diane Kruger opted for an ensemble from Alexander McQueen. "The bag is Chanel," said Kruger, pointing to the iconic interlocking C's. "Obviously."

"I loved the neckline," explained Kerry Washington when asked why she choose the classic tweed boatneck dress for the occasion. "It's very Jackie O...I mean, it's very Michelle O." The talk turned from politics to art when Washington chatted with Molly Shannon, whose husband, painter Fritz Chestnut, is participating in this year's Artist Awards Program-contemporary artists donate their work to be presented to the winning filmmakers at the festival.

"We had our welcome lunch, where I got my orientation bag and met my fellow jurors, I saw two films, then I ran home, threw my Chanel dress on and ran here," Messing said, describing her hectic day.
