How To Get Ready for a Party, As Told to By Brother Vellies's Aurora James
This week in New York might as well be called Art Week for the number of related events going on: The Whitney party on Tuesday, Christie's record-breaking Da Vinci auction, and last night's annual 2017 Guggenheim International Gala Pre-Party made possible by Dior. With the help of a very chic crowd and special musical performance by HAIM, artist Cai Guo-Qiang, former President of Guggenheim Board of Trustees Jennifer Blei Stockman, and UBS, were honored by the museum.
Aurora James, founder and creative director of Brother Vellies, took us along as she got ready for the fashion meets art event.
"It takes a village!"Meet Aurora's glam team: hair stylist Felicia Burrows and makeup artist Alana Wright. And of course, photographer Christopher Sherman.
"Thankfully, I've been doing my own nails since age seven." Aurora wears Dior Vernis Rouge 999.
A Few of My Favorite Things
Summer Colored Skin
"My makeup artist and I had a great time playing with the Dior cosmetics. I use the Diorskin Forever Foundation which is perfect for my skin tone. Depending on the time of year sometimes I will blend colors together, my beach time (or lack thereof) makes my coloring fluctuate pretty dramatically."
Brother Vellies Resort 18
"A great pairing with the Dior Cruise dress."
Before we leave...
"Getting a little down time before I head out. What’s the point of a dress if you can’t be comfortable?"
Options in the Dollhouse
"I have been playing dress up for as long as I can remember. I used to go into my Mother’s closet as a child and put on all the furs and gowns. Here I was battling one of my lifelong questions - which bag to choose for the night."
Words to live by
"The first time I ever heard Christian Dior’s Artistic Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, speak was at the CFDA Fashion Fund Awards. I immediately fell in love with her and everything she stands for. My heart exploded the first time I saw Dior’s ‘We Should All Be Feminists’ t-shirt. I couldn’t be more excited to see such an amazingly strong woman at the helm of one of my favorite brands, Dior."
And we're off!
Guggenheim bound, thank you Dior ;)
