Every Tribute to Karl Lagerfeld's Cat Choupette at the 2023 Met Gala

At the 2023 Met Gala, some celebs opted to pay tribute to Karl Lagerfeld, the designer. Others, however, paid homage to his beloved and famously pampered pet cat, Choupette. With looks that ranged from eerie to extra, these nods to Choupette were, in our eyes, some of the most theatrical of the night. Celebrities like Jared Leto and Janelle Monáe opted to honor Lagerfeld by including fashion nods to — or, in Leto's case, donning a full-body suit inspired by — Lagerfeld's soul-cat. Here were the best.

Jared Leto

Jared Leto eventually changed out of his vaguely terrifying Choupette catsuit and into something a bit more comfortable, but not before giving many of his A-list friends a big, furry hug. Also, he took the head off at one point and carried it around. It was...very Jared Leto of him.

Doja Cat

Doja Cat is known for her experimental makeup looks, and her Choupette tribute at this year's Met Gala was no exception. Not only did she wear prosthetics (which took four hours) to channel her inner pampered cat, but the hood on her custom Oscar de la Renta gown included cat ears.

Lil Nas X

While Lil Nas X's look was more pearl-encrusted Poseidon than friendly feline, the rapper did sport a pair of slender whiskers which is enough to convince us that he — and his glam squad — are #TeamChoupette. He also answered questions on the carpet by way of meowing.

Chloe Fineman

Chloe Fineman's Choupette tribute might have been the most subtle of the night. Rather than putting on whiskers or a full, literal catsuit, Fineman opted to carry a sweet and bejeweled Judith Leiber cat purse with her for the evening.

Janelle Monáe

Janelle Monáe's structural black and white Met Gala look also featured a Choupette-inspired bag. The white cat-shaped purse might have passed for another animal, until you notice the fluffy tail that is 100% pure Choupette.
