Eddie Redmayne is reveling in his recent Golden Globe win, so much so that he loves showing off his statue at any opportunity---and we mean any. Speaking at the Academy Awards Luncheon in Beverly Hills last night, Redmayne revealed how the award made his post-Globes trip through airport security a whole lot more exciting.
"I had the most wonderful experience after the Golden Globes of taking the GG in my hand luggage through the X-ray machine," said the actor, who's nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for his role in The Theory of Everything. "I did that thing where I went through and saw the bag go through and I saw the woman stop the thing and go close up on this weird shaped thing and say, "I think it’s an award or something.’"
"And I was praying they would make me open it up but they didn’t and that was a very special moment. The guy asked, “Is this real?” and I said yeah."
Despite his good humor, Redmayne admits his run of awards season success has been overwhelming, and that he has wife Hannah Bagshawe to thank for keeping his feet on the ground: "The whole thing has been such an extraordinary flood of emotions and euphoria that I’ve tried not to find too much method in the madness and taking every day as it comes, but Hannah has been very grounding."
We bet a little excess baggage courtesy of an Oscar statue would be the icing on the cake for Redmayne's 2015.
